This post will be short and sweet. Or not so sweet maybe, but definitely short. 🙂

O is for Outro, a beautiful song by M83 that I discovered through my Fangirling. I am always looking for new music and this song was one of Tom Hiddleston’s Song of the Day recommendations during his run of Coriolanus. At the time I always associated the play with the song and of course loved it.

But now I’ve listened to it so many times my mind has opened to all the possibilities. It is great writing music.

The song evokes strong emotion. I feel it has a sense of an exhausting but victorious end to a difficult struggle. I think the music lends itself to stories of struggles overcome. Of course that is just where I am at with it right now. Many stories could be crammed into the beauty of the music and the loveliness of the simple lyrics (below). I highly recommend you check it out.

Are you an M83 fan? Do you love Outro? Or Midnight City? Or another? Feel free to tell me about it.

I’m the king of my own land.

Facing tempests of dust, I’ll fight until the end.

Creatures of my dreams raise up and dance with me!

Now and forever, I’m your King!

  1. I like this song. Plus I have a feeling that it was brought to his attention by Benedict, since this song was used in a scene for his movie “The Fifth Estate” 🙂

    1. Really? I didn’t realize that, but that seems very possible. I love that they are friends. The combined awesomeness of the two of them together would be a little insane wouldn’t it?

  2. I’m going to have to download it. Never heard of it – I must be old (sigh). I trust your judgment, so I shall take the recommendation
