Welcome to my new followers and all the visitors from the A to Z blogging challenge who are stopping in to say ‘hello’. I appreciate it!

For those of you new to my blog, I post in the late evenings US Central time. This is in part due to my crazy, busy & wonderful life as a full-time working, married, mother of three boys. But it is also partially due to my being an English major who always managed to do my best work in college under a deadline. It’s been a long time since I got my degree, but old habits die hard, I suppose. πŸ™‚

A is for “Alibi”, which is an incredibly beautiful song by one of my favorite bands, 30 Seconds to Mars. Their songs are in heavy rotation on my work playlist, which keeps me sane during the long and sometimes stressful days. I frequently find myself just closing my eyes while listening to the end of that song. Toward the end, the lyric repeats ‘I fell apart’ over and over and then, ‘But got back up again’.

The music is so beautiful, but I also really respond to the idea that even if you’ve fallen apart, you get back up again.

30 Seconds to Mars makes my work day better, but also is really spectacular for my writing playlist. ‘Alibi’ and ‘Hurricane’ from their This is War cd are especially good for writing times. ‘City of Angels’ is another favorite from their newer Love Lust Faith + Dreams cd. As a writer, I love how their songs tell a story, and there are some achingly beautiful ones.

On a final note, as we go through this month, you’ll see that I find a lot of inspiration in music, movies and books, so a lot of my posts will be a collection of my favorites. Hopefully some will be your favorites, too. Feel free to post a comment and share how you love whatever has inspired me, too. I love to hear from you and I will do my best to reply.

See you tomorrow (hopefully) for “B” which will be:

    1. Thanks, Larry! I am really loving the A to Z challenge so far. Hopefully it’ll be a great learning experience. Now I need to get my writing challenge work in, too, for today. I’m really close to finishing the first draft of my Restful book. Very excited!

Hopefully I will see you at a meeting again soon.

  1. A fellow A-Zer here, just stopping by say I adore this post! I went through a serious 30StM phase (some would say “obsession”…) a few years ago and, sigh, this song is so wonderful. I’ve used it in some of my writing playlists too – like you say, it’s so surprisingly inspirational/motivational!

I’ll be sure to keep up with the rest of your months’ tidbits! πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks for visiting and or the kind words. I am still in my 30 Seconds to Mars obsession phase right now I guess πŸ˜‰ I am going to see them
in concert in September. So excited!

Hope you have a great month!

  2. Echelon for Life! πŸ˜‰ Happy to have found you. I popped by for B is for Books and glimpsed ‘Alibi’ and gasped.

I’ve been a 30STM fan from day one. Jared is a wonderful actor and pretty to gaze upon, as well. But I’m in it for the music. ‘Alibi’ is one of those songs I listen to several times a day; it’s the song my alarm clock plays in the morning. My 30STM concert tickets arrived this week – squeeee!

Happy A-to-Z-ing! I’ll stop by again!

    1. I am late to the party on the whole 30 Seconds to Mars love but I am wholeheartedly a fan now. I stumbled onto them by way of a video – made by I don’t even know who – on Pinterest that set scenes from the last Harry Potter movies to This is War. I loved it so much I bought the album on my iPhone at work (about a year ago) and listening to it on replay for the whole week. Then I started binge purchasing all their music. Alibi is an all time favorite.

I am going to see them in September and I am so ridiculously excited!

      Glad to meet you!

    1. Nice! I absolutely love the whole album, but Alibi and Hurricane may be my favorites. And This is War. And Night of the Hunter. Okay – all of them. Hahaha. Enjoy!

  3. Thank you for introducing me to them! I have been listening to their album This Is War today, awesome! I love music as much as you and I am thrilled to have a new band to listen to!

    1. Awesome – so glad you like them. I’ve been addicted since I first started listening to them. What are your favorite bands? I’m always looking for new good music, too. πŸ™‚

      1. I tend to not like bands, rather individual songs, althought The Script are amazing. Some of my favorite songs are ‘Sweet Redemption’ by Ron Pope, ‘Love’s to Blame’ by Joel and Luke – though they now go by For King and Country and ‘I’m not the only one’ by Sam Smith. All great songs πŸ™‚
